Marketplace Implementation Lead

At FINBOURNE a core part of our strategy relates to our marketplace offering, which represents a one-stop shop for our customers to gain access to a range of service offerings to complement our core product LUSID - an open cloud-based investment data platform. Our vision of the marketplace is a central digital location at the heart of the investment management ecosystem, where customers of different types and sizes can leverage a wide range of services from industry leading third-party providers including market data, analytics, performance, reconciliation, workflow, regulatory and outsourced services.

This position will take a leading role in shaping and executing our marketplace strategy. The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery and co-ordination of a wide range of activities. Initial focus will be on market analysis to understand the priorities of our clients and target clients from a marketplace perspective. This will include a detailed assessment of potential marketplace vendors to allow us to form a view of whom we should be working with. In addition to this initial analysis, the role will work with chosen marketplace vendors to manage the integration process and establish a transparent operating model including considerations such as customer support, commercial and service level agreements.

The role will involve working closely with our sales, product and customer success teams to understand client requirements so we can prioritize the marketplace roadmap. Additionally, the role will involve working alongside our Marketing department to ensure promotion of the marketplace in line with our strategy. The successful candidate will also be required to work alongside our Finance and Operations teams to ensure that processes and controls are in place to efficiently onboard new clients, and ensure a robust control framework exists to manage BAU activities.

This role will provide an exceptional opportunity for the candidate to help drive a key pillar of FINBOURNE’s future growth. Key to this role will be strong project management skills and an ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and multiple third-party vendors. The successful candidate will also require a strong commercial focus and an ability to understand the legal frameworks used within the Marketplace.

Key responsibilities: 

  • Ownership and co-ordination of the marketplace roadmap. This will involve working closely with our sales, product and customer success teams.
  • Market analysis to understand the vendor landscape and priorities of our clients in terms of the services that they require from the marketplace.
  • Management of relationships with target marketplace vendors. This will involve coordinating proof of concepts and commercial negotiations.
  • Working with internal and external teams and help scope and plan integration efforts required to bring new vendors to the Marketplace.
  • Collaborate with finance, operations and engineering teams to ensure that a robust control framework exists to ensure the smooth ongoing operation of the marketplace.
  • Facilitate design and implementation of target operating model with Marketplace vendors including management of customer support and SLAs.
  • Work closely with the wider FINBOURNE team including internal legal to a repeatable and simple commercial model.


What skills, experience and qualifications we require: 

  • Proven track record of delivery and the ability to deliver complex initiatives spanning multiple internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Delivery experience within financial services sector whether in buy side or sell side capacity.
  • Experience working with data vendors and a strong knowledge and network across the sector. Experience within the partnership space would be valuable.
  • Ability to quickly build effective working relationships with third party organisations and deliver against shared objectives.
  • Commercial focus with experience of legal contracts and vendor agreements.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to clearly articulate key findings to drive efficient and well-informed decision making.
  • Ability to establish and run delivery focused governance structure to ensure clear visibility of status, dependencies, risks and issues.
  • Ability to deliver multiple workstreams under pressure whilst maintaining attention to detail.
  • Highly motivated with a desire to take on new challenges and operate outside of comfort zone.
  • Knowledge of the asset management and hedge fund sectors would be highly beneficial.
