Product Manager

FINBOURNE is a product-centric organisation, placing the Product Manager at the heart of the evolution of our company. A Product Manager at FINBOURNE is responsible for the realisation of the business strategy and vision, through the delivery of the product roadmap.

Job title:  Product Manager

Location: London, UK

Salary: Competitive

Key responsibilities:

In product, we gather business and systems opportunities, pain points and use cases from internal and external clients, translate these requirements into technical specifications and UI designs, prioritise and oversee projects from design to release, design and test MVPs and finally manage the launch and subsequent customer evaluation of completed features. This role is cross-functional – Product Managers will work closely with Engineering, Operations, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Executive teams and external clients / vendors. The Product Manager will proactively identify and resolve strategic and tactical issues and provide leadership across all functions to deliver programs.

Key objectives for this role include:

  • Start with clients and work backwards to define your product vision in concert with current initiatives.
  • Innovate and develop friction-free products that delight and solve problems for these clients.
  • Manage development from conception through to launch in conjunction with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Operations, Sales, Marketing, Finance.
  • Be the end-to-end owner of the product from design to adoption.
  • Define key product performance indicators (KPIs), as well as release-specific success metrics to enhance client experience and optimise the product.
  • Inform company pricing and the long-term growth model.
  • Provide product updates and strategic inputs for the Exco, board and investors as required.

What skills, experience and qualifications we require:

We are looking for a Product Manager with at least 3 years of experience at a cutting-edge technology company, ideally – but not necessarily – in the financial services sector. We employ the latest software and some of our constructs are exceptionally complex technically and logically, so the ideal candidate will have a proven track record in operating within such an environment, translating and expressing such constructs clearly and succinctly, problem solving with (and challenging where necessary) our technology experts.

The successful applicant will ideally have experience as a Product Manager on complex, mission-critical systems, examples might include:

  • Financial services systems (risk engines, data platforms)
  • Cloud services provider (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.)
  • Large-scale hosted systems (e.g.: social media / eCommerce / CRM platforms)
  • Data-intensive platforms (music of video streaming, telecoms)
  • High user-base API-first platforms
  • Computationally-intensive systems (scientific / engineering / finance)
  • High-throughput transactional systems (e.g.: payment processing)
  • Other systems with intensive usage (online gaming, content distribution networks, etc.)

Primary technologies we use:

  • C#, .NET Core 3.1
  • Postgres + Sqlite
  • RabbitMQ
  • Kafka
  • ElasticSearch
  • Kubernetes
  • OpenID Connect flows

FINBOURNE Technology was founded in 2016 with the mission to reduce the cost of investing and increase transparency for everyone.

Seven of us started on this journey and we have now grown to more than 70 people. Our intention is to change the way the world of financial services operates with a series of products, the first of which is LUSID - our open, cloud-based investment data platform. LUSID is for everyone in the asset management industry from start-up fund managers to global investment institutions and combines best-practice from the B2C technology world and own our domain expertise to challenge established orthodoxy on how a platform should operate, what it should provide a solution for, and how you should access it.

Our solution is open, API first and developer friendly – a true first for the asset management industry.  You can see what our team is busy building – we’ve published APIs for all functions publicly on Github., and released Software Development Kits for developers in five languages (C#, Java, Javascript, Python, Angular).

LUSID is just the start; we are adding a data virtualisation product and looking into spinning out our entitlements, research and event sourcing processes. To help us, we’re looking for talented and creative problem solvers to join our team. We think it’s a pretty exciting place to be right now and we’re always looking for passionate, innovative people to join us on our journey.
