Software Engineer – Platform

This role sits within the Platform team at FINBOURNE who are responsible for building, maintaining and scaling the platform that supports our industry-leading LUSID product.

We're looking to hire a developer with experience building scalable and performant software, who is excited by the idea of writing, supporting and maintaining globally distributed systems for the financial services industry.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a fast-growing business and to contribute to the scaling of a platform from thousands to millions of users!

Key responsibilities:

  • Optimising our current technology stack to improve performance and stability
  • Maintaining and tuning our PostgreSQL and Elasticsearch clusters
  • Develop our performance monitoring and testing suites to help us detect and mitigate performance issues
  • Help design, inform and implement our scalability roadmap

What skills, experience and qualifications we require:

We’re looking for C#/Java/C++ (or any strongly-type language) developers with experience writing, supporting, and maintaining globally distributed systems. Ideally the candidate would have experience working with, tuning, and scaling a PostgreSQL (or another relational database engine). We are also looking for a candidate that has experience with the more advanced features of Elasticsearch.

Our key technologies are C# (.NET Core) and a Postgres persistence layer, all hosted using Kubernetes on AWS. We also make use of Python, Go and React where appropriate and a number of other key technologies including Kafka, Elasticsearch, RabbitMQ and Redis.

As we work in an informal, agile environment we are also looking for candidates who are motivated and genuinely excited about what we do.

We are a young, dynamic financial technology company aiming to re-engineer the world of investing to make it clearer, faster and more cost effective for everyone.

We are looking for our future architects, engineers and ultimately leaders to join us on this journey.

At FINBOURNE, we offer a hugely supportive environment to build a career, with continuous learning and development opportunities. We have a collaborative culture of testing and exploring problems together to find the best evidence-based solutions. We respect your independent thought, your intellectual curiosity and your opinion.
