Graduate DevOps Engineer

DevOps engineers at FINBOURNE are responsible for executing and evangelising best practice across all phases of the SDLC. As part of the team, you will support FINBOURNE’s industry leading IBOR, Valuation and Entity Relationship capabilities of the LUSID platform, by maintaining a consistently excellent customer and developer experience.

As a graduate DevOps engineer at Finbourne you will be working closely with the experienced members of the DevOps team as you help us build and support our worldwide infrastructure. You will be given the training and support that you need to become knowledgeable in AWS, Terraform, and Kubernetes. You’ll be exposed to languages like Golang, Rust, C#, Python and Bash. You will also be exposed to leading open-source projects and gain an understanding in system architecture and testing.

We are looking for an engaged and detailed engineer who is practiced in scripting and programming and is at home on the command line. You will be a good communicator with excellent time management skills, with the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time.

Job title:  Engineer

Location: London, UK

Salary: £40,000

Key responsibilities:

Day-to-day you’ll be maintaining and improving our existing infrastructure codebase, upgrading existing applications and deploying new applications to fit business needs. You will be heavily involved in implementation and testing, learning about the latest cloud and open-source technologies. We are looking for someone who can make complex subjects relatable and is a great communicator.

While working across multiple projects you will be expected to work both independently and as part of a development team, depending on the business demands. You will be liaising with colleagues across the company to ensure that the solutions you build are appropriate to the problem, fully documented and supportable in their use. Your approach will be systematic and considered, embedding automation at every stage of the SDLC.

What skills, experience and qualifications we require:

We are looking for developers experienced with experience with at least one of Go/C#/Python/Rust and with experience working in command line environments. Experience with configuration management solutions (Terraform, Ansible) or with cloud providers such (AWS, GCP, Azure) is a plus.

As important as your technical knowledge, we need engineers who display strong communication skills.  A large part of the role is understanding and explaining, in detail, the functionality provided by DevOps to FINBOURNE, and using feedback to continuously enhance our offering.

We are a young, dynamic financial technology company aiming to re-engineer the world of investing to make it clearer, faster and more cost effective for everyone.

We are looking for our future architects, engineers and ultimately leaders to join us on this journey.

At FINBOURNE, we offer a hugely supportive environment to build a career, with continuous learning and development opportunities. We have a collaborative culture of testing and exploring problems together to find the best evidence-based solutions. We respect your independent thought, your intellectual curiosity and your opinion.

Our solution is open, API first and developer friendly – a true first for the asset management industry.  You can see what our team is busy building – we’ve published our Software Development Kits in five languages on Github: (C#, Java, Javascript, Python, Angular).
