Location: London UK
Salary: £50,000 - £90,000 (based on experience)

FINBOURNE are looking to hire a mid-senior DevOps engineer that will build, enhance and support one of FINBOURNE’s greenfield offerings. DevOps engineers at FINBOURNE are responsible for executing and evangelising best practice across all phases of the SDLC. As part of the team, you will support FINBOURNE’s industry leading IBOR, Valuation and Entity Relationship capabilities of the LUSID platform, by maintaining a consistently excellent customer and developer experience.

You will be responsible for building data collection and cleaning systems using Python, deployed to AWS as Lambdas with an accompanying EKS cluster and periphery logging and telemetry.
You will be responsible for building first class infrastructure and tooling upon AWS using Terraform and deploying to Kubernetes. You will be writing applications in Python/C#/Golang programming languages, alone or as part of a team. We are looking for an engaged technologist, someone at home on the command line, familiar with CICD processes, comfortable with Python and passionate about SAAS at scale.

Key responsibilities:

  • Day-to-day you’ll be taking existing proof of concept code and adding reliability, scalability and resiliency whilst expanding the range and functionality. You’ll be responsible for building the observability and telemetry systems, ensuring that you are able to maintain data quality for the lifetime of the project by responding to data processing incidents. You will own the architecture and future state of the project in a role that encompasses every aspect of the SDLC; production, observability, command and response, and, new feature implementations. This is a role that will have a high degree of autonomy for the right candidate.
  • You will be expected to work both independently and as part of a development team, depending on the business demands. You will be liaising with colleagues across the company to ensure that the solutions you build are appropriate to the problem, fully documented and supportable in their use. Your approach will be systematic and considered, embedding automation at every stage of the SDLC.
  • You will be heavily involved in design, implementation, testing and delivery, as well as providing training and feedback to colleagues on the latest cloud and open-source technologies. We are looking for someone who can make complex subjects relatable and is a great communicator.

What skills, experience and qualifications we require:

  • We are looking for DevOps engineers, Python developers or Data Scientists with a minimum of three years’ experience practiced in Python with exposure to Serverless computing within AWS or another Cloud Provider (GCP, Azure). You will be an enthusiastic individual with a passion for data in the FinTech industry.
  • We expect a level of familiarity with common development patterns and technologies for serverless compute as well as an understanding of security in the cloud. You will use these skills to advise product owners and to detect and remediate issues across the platform. You will be expected to plan and deliver your own tooling to help complete tasks and identify novel failure scenarios.
  • You will be experienced using a CICD tool (Jenkins, Concourse, Github Actions), Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, Puppet/Chef), with a working understanding of AWS (Lambda, VPC, S3, Firehose) and familiar with Kubernetes (EKS, GKE), Grafana and Prometheus beneficial.
  • As important as your technical knowledge, we need engineers who display strong communication skills. A large part of the role is understanding and explaining, in detail, the functionality provided by DevOps to FINBOURNE, and using feedback to continuously enhance our offering.

We are a young, dynamic financial technology company aiming to re-engineer the world of investing to make it clearer, faster and more cost effective for everyone.

We are looking for our future architects, engineers and ultimately leaders to join us on this journey.

At FINBOURNE, we offer a hugely supportive environment to build a career, with continuous learning and development opportunities.
